Master of Science (M.Sc.)Our study program has a strong technical and scientific approach to AI research: mathematical AI fundamentals and practical programming make up a large part of the curriculum. It consists of mandatory core courses, specialization courses and a final thesis. The program covers a wide range of topics, such as machine learning, natural language processing, deep learning, computer vision, parallel computing, fairness, and intelligent agents. In the courses on these topics, you will build a solid understanding of AI.
All courses are taught by world-renowned researchers who are experts in their field. Most lecturers are also involved in joint research with industry, so you will benefit from in-depth knowledge of AI applications in practice.
Software development skills are required to the same extent and depth as those acquired in professional practice in a computer science-related environment. This credit for professional experience corresponds to 30 of the 120KP and is followed by an equivalency test.
The course takes place entirely online. Attendance in Lübeck is not required.
There will be a link to the central application portal on the homepage of the University of Lübeck. You can upload your documents there and your admission will be checked.
You can find the requirements here :
- You can upload all the required documents via the university's central application portal. The documents will then be checked and a decision will be made as to whether you meet all the requirements. There is no prior examination.
- To prove language level B2, a German Abitur is sufficient, after which the language has been studied for at least 7 years.
- An English-language Bachelor's degree also serves as proof.
- Alternatively, the language level can be proven via a TOEFL / IELTS test.
Admission to the Master's program takes place in the summer and winter semesters.
The examination board is made up of professors, academic staff and students. It decides on the interpretation of the examination regulations and deals with cases that may not be provided for or covered in the regulations.
Contact the examination board if something unforeseen happens during your studies, such as a prolonged illness or problems with examinations. The committee can (of course only in truly exceptional situations) grant special permission and make special arrangements for you.
The compulsory consultation in the case of a failed second examination date of a semester (regardless of whether it is still the first or already the second examination attempt) according to PVO §5a(2) is also the responsibility of the examination board.
Typically, you simply go to the office hours of the chairperson of the examination board; it is not necessary to register for the office hours. He can take care of many things directly, the committee does not always have to meet at length.
To ensure that the decisions of the Examination Board are fair and that decisions are not made one way or the other, the Board determines some things for the future that go beyond individual cases.
Forms and information sheets, e.g. for issuing the Bachelor's thesis, cover sheet for the Bachelor's thesis or registration for the colloquium for the Bachelor's thesis, can be found on the general forms page of the Examinations Office and the special page for computer science-related forms.
