Focus of the life science degree programs

Our life science degree programs all have "Life in Focus" - but with different focuses:

Molecular Life Science teaches molecular cell and structural biology and their application in medicine and biotechnology. In the Bachelor's program, you will learn the basics of natural sciences (biology/chemistry/physics/mathematics). In the Master's degree course, you will learn about other fields of medical research and can specialize in cell biology, structural biology, neuroscience or clinical immunology.

Medical nutrition science is a natural science at the interface between medicine and biochemistry. It deals with the fundamentals, composition and effects of nutrition in the context of diseases.

The Biophysics degree program teaches the fundamentals of physics with particular reference to the life sciences of biology, biochemistry and chemistry. The focus is on the molecular building blocks of life, such as proteins and DNA, as well as the physical methods that are suitable for investigating the structure and dynamics of these building blocks.

Infection Biology Master's program: Infections are one of the main causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide and present society with major health policy challenges. The University of Lübeck and the Research Center Borstel jointly offer this Master's course to prepare students for independent work in basic and applied research on human pathogens.
