Doctoral degrees of the Section of Medicine
The following doctoral degrees are awarded by the Section of Medicine:
- Dr. med.
- Dr. med. dent.
- Dr. rer. hum. biol.
For the Dr. med. you need to have studied human medicine, for the Dr. med. dent. you need to have studied dentistry.
You can obtain the Dr. rer. hum. biol. with a degree in human biology, medical science or health science. Further details can be found in § 9 of the doctoral degree regulations.
These three doctoral degrees from the Section of Medicine are obtained as part of a structured doctorate.
Doctoral degrees of the MINT sections
These doctoral degrees are awarded by the MINT sections:
- Dr. rer. nat.
- Dr.-Ing.
- Dr. phil.
- Ph.D.
For the Dr. rer. nat. you must have completed a degree in natural sciences, computer science or engineering.
To obtain a Dr.-Ing., you need to have studied computer science or engineering.
You can obtain a Dr. phil. with a degree in the humanities, economics or social sciences.
These three doctoral degrees can be obtained either as part of a structured doctorate or as an individual doctorate.
Applicants for the Ph.D. need a degree in natural sciences, computer science or engineering or a degree in humanities, economics or social sciences. The Ph.D. can only be obtained as part of a structured doctorate.
