Classes and lectures:

  • PY2701-S: Introduction to the treatment of mental disorders (seminar, 2 SWS)
  • PY2701-V: Introduction to the treatment of mental disorders (lecture, 2 SWS)

Workload:

  • 180 hours private studies and exercises
  • 60 hours in-classroom work

Contents of teaching:

  • Scientifically tested and recognised psychotherapeutic procedures and methods
  • Recognised criteria for the evaluation of the scientific evidence of psychotherapeutic Approaches
  • methods of prevention and Rehabilitation taking into account the needs of different age groups
  • Prevention programmes and rehabilitation approaches taking into account the needs of different age groups

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • Students will be enabled to use scientifically recognised psychotherapeutic approaches and evidence-based new developments including their respective historical development, the indication areas and efficacy, their etiology and disorder models and the psychotherapeutic methods associated with them and to be able to assess their effectiveness and applicability.
  • They acquire basic skills in applying recognised treatment guidelines, taking into account all age and patient groups, for indication, treatment planning and appropriate patient information, including the information of other persons involved or to be involved.
  • Students know behavioural and relational prevention, intervention and rehabilitation features and concepts for maintaining or restoring health or reducing health impairments, can distinguish between them, to assess their effectiveness and decide on their application.
  • They acquire basic skills in recognising health-relevant aspects of different living environments and their interfaces, as well as to use and expand cooperation between care or organisational areas.

Admission requirements for taking the module:
- None

Admission requirements for participation in module examination(s):
- In accordance with §5 of the licensing regulations for psychotherapists (PsychTh-ApprO), 80% attendance is compulsory in this module. Students who are absent more than 3 times per semester cannot be admitted to the examination. There are no substitutions.

Exam:
- PY2701-L1: Introduction to the therapy of mental disorders, written examination, 90 min, 100% of the module grade
