Master of Science (M.Sc.)

Media informatics

The ticket to science

In addition to the focus on academic qualifications for work in research and teaching, the four-semester Master's course also includes more complex projects for professional product development, which create the best conditions for a career in business.

The Master's degree course in Media Informatics provides in-depth knowledge in the development and analysis of interactive, multimedia systems. Students learn to apply innovative techniques and concepts to current and future IT applications, to evaluate their possibilities and limitations and to develop new models. The course also encourages students to deal with ethical aspects and psychological principles in the context of IT and media.

Current research topics and their relevance for the further development of media informatics play a central role.

In addition to the compulsory courses, various compulsory electives from the fields of computer science, media informatics and psychology as well as interdisciplinary courses are offered each semester, as was the case in the Bachelor's degree.

Graduates are able to pursue an industrial or academic career as a media computer scientist and meet the requirements for a doctorate. Their qualifications and skills include

People and technology

In the Master's degree program in Media Informatics, students deepen their abilities to analyze and solve complex and innovative challenges in a dynamic field. Students are trained to critically evaluate contradictory and incomplete information and make well-founded decisions.

With a particular focus on advanced theoretical concepts and systems engineering models in media informatics, students learn how these can be applied specifically to challenging and novel problems. In this way, sustainable and innovative solutions are developed for the technological and social challenges of tomorrow.

A further focus is placed on the design and development of modern human-machine systems. The optimal division of labor between man and machine is analyzed, taking into account important aspects such as safety, fault tolerance and automation and assistance concepts.

The Master's course prepares students to play an active role in the further development of media informatics and to contribute their own expertise in a highly specialized environment.

Computer Science

The Master's degree course in Media Informatics enables students to deepen their knowledge of basic informatics principles as well as their chosen specializations.

During the course of the program, students develop a critical awareness of the latest developments in computer science and learn how to apply this knowledge in a targeted manner. It also enables students to link different subject areas with each other and to develop well-founded solutions to complex problems.

In addition, students gain an in-depth understanding of modern computer science techniques and methods as well as their possible applications and limitations. These skills provide a broad foundation for mastering demanding challenges in the digital world and actively shaping media informatics.
