Course of studies, specific fields and terms:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing 2020, compulsory, Evidence-based nursing practice

Classes and lectures:

• PF4151-Ü: From case to case: care according to the principles of evidence-based practice 1 (exercise, 1 SWS)
• PF4151-S: From case to case: care according to the principles of evidence-based practice (seminar, 1 SWS)

Workload:

• 6 hours private studies
• 30 hours in-classroom work
• 264 hours integrated internship hours

Contents of teaching:

• Evidence-based and person-centred planning, organisation, design, implementation, management and evaluation of even highly complex care processes for people of different ages
• Person- and situation-oriented communication and counselling for care recipients of all ages and their caregivers
• Organisation of intra- and interprofessional action and further development of health and nursing care for people with complex to highly complex care needs
• Reflection and justification of own actions against the background of laws, regulations, ethical guidelines and participation in the development and implementation of quality management concepts, guidelines and expert standards
• Reflection and justification of their own actions on the basis of scientific findings and professional ethical values and attitudes as well as participation in professional development

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

• Deepening/broadening knowledge: Students have a solid knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of nursing and care science for recognising and assessing care-relevant health problems and support needs in people with complex and highly complex needs due to various somatic, mental and/or social impairments, especially in the context of multimorbidity or acute serious health conditions or complications.
• Deepening/broadening knowledge: Students also have the necessary knowledge and understanding for the clinically appropriate, evidence-based prioritisation of nursing care needs, the derivation of suitable nursing interventions, participation in medical diagnostics and therapy, person-centred interprofessional cooperation and the management and evaluation of the nursing process and multiprofessional care processes.
• Understanding of knowledge: Students can critically reflect on the appropriateness of their own decisions in the care process and the observed quality of care on the basis of scientific findings and professional ethical standards and values, identify possible solutions and weigh these up with regard to their clinical, ethical, legal, socio-cultural and organisational implications.
• Use and transfer: Students are able to plan, organise, design, implement, control and evaluate care processes for people with highly complex needs in an evidence-based and person-centred manner under supervision. They will be able to justify decisions made in accordance with the principles of evidence-based practice and on the basis of suitable nursing and care science theories.
• Use and transfer: Under supervision, students can design, implement and evaluate evidence-based and person-centred counselling, guidance and training services for people with complex to highly complex care needs and their caregivers. In doing so, they take into account suitable nursing and care science theories and models and evaluation criteria.
• Communication and coordination: Students are able to organise communication with people with care needs and their caregivers in a way that is appropriate to the situation and addressees at all times, using appropriate theories or models.
• Communication and coordination: Under supervision, students can manage and coordinate the multi-professional care processes of people with complex to highly complex care needs in a person-centred manner. They work in partnership with all those involved in the care process, including people with care needs and their carers. They respect the norms, values, roles and tasks of the various stakeholders.
• Communication and coordination: Students can recognise conflicting values, attitudes and approaches in interprofessional collaboration and person-centred care and analyse these with regard to their influencing factors and consequences. They can identify starting points for solution-orientated communication and implement these effectively with critical and supportive learning guidance.
• Academic self-image/professionalism: Students can argue the special roles and tasks of Bachelor's-qualified nursing professionals to members of their own professional group and to third parties. They critically reflect on the status of their own competence development for performing these roles and tasks and have identified strategies to minimise existing competence gaps.
