Qualification-goals/Competencies:
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: Students can explain theories, models and key concepts of prevention and management of individual health crises as well as population and health system-related crises as a result of external influences (e.g. pandemics, extreme weather conditions, political factors). They can identify points of contact for nursing tasks in accordance with Sections 4-5 and 37 of the Nursing Professions Act.
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: Students can name requirements for structures and processes for protection against/action in crisis situations at the organisational, population or health system level (e.g. fires, extreme weather, pandemics) and relevant knowledge resources (legal requirements, evidence-based recommendations from professional associations, regional or internal regulations).
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: Students can name the processes and players involved in multi-professional and multidisciplinary cooperation in situations with several injured persons or a mass casualty incident.
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: Students are able to explain the aetiology, clinic, therapeutic, nursing and rehabilitative measures for the above-mentioned acute illnesses and health disorders (see course content) on the basis of current nursing and related scientific findings.
- Utilisation and transfer: Students can apply basic and immediate life support measures to children and adolescents and assist with advanced life support measures. In emergency situations, students are able to make appropriate initial clinical assessments based on established observation criteria and prioritise first aid measures within their area of responsibility in a clinically appropriate manner.
- Utilisation and transfer: Students are able to plan, design and evaluate evidence-based care processes for people with complex and highly complex needs in highly stressful and critical life and care situations due to the above-mentioned acute illnesses or health problems (see course content). They apply assessment criteria and instruments appropriate to the subject matter and case, taking into account the principles of evidence-based diagnostics.
- Communication and coordination: Students are able to pass on/hand over the results of nursing assessments in emergency or other acute situations in a structured and appropriate manner, even under high time and decision-making pressure. They act competently within their own area of responsibility and can integrate other professional groups according to their roles and tasks.
- Academic self-image/professionalism: Students can justify the systemic relevance of the nursing profession and derive requirements for professional development from this.
