Course of studies, specific fields and terms:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing 2020, compulsory, interdisciplinary comprehensive nursing tasks
- Bachelor Applied Nursing (part-time) 2022, optional subject, for equivalence check

Classes and lectures:
- Core elements of professional nursing practice II (seminar, 2 SWS)
- Communication and interaction in challenging nursing care situations (exercise, 1 SWS)
Workload:
- 50 hours private studies
- 45 hours in-classroom work
- 55 hours integrated internship hours
Contents of teaching:
- Discourse on the core elements of professional nursing (see PF1200: Core Elements of Professional Nursing I), especially implementation in challenging and personally stressful care situations
- Communicating with persons in need of care, with limited perceptive, communicative, and cognitive faculties (persons of different age groups)
- Typical conditional factors concerning conflicts in nursing situations (caregiverreceiver relationship, caregiverrelative relationship, intra-, and interdisciplinary teamwork)
- Strategies to prevent and resolve conflicts
Qualification-goals/Competencies:
- Knowledge and understanding: Students have an initially consolidated and deepened awareness of the tasks and roles of the nursing profession in the various contexts of health and nursing care.
- Knowledge and understanding: They have a consolidated awareness of the ethical values of the nursing profession and are sensitised to the challenges of implementing these values in nursing practice.
- Knowledge and understanding: They know and understand the causes and conditioning factors that can lead to challenging situations or conflicts in the nursing working relationship with people in need of care, their relatives or in intra- and/or interprofessional collaboration.
- Knowledge and understanding: They know and understand strategies for the prevention, early recognition and/or appropriate management of challenging situations in communication with people in need of care and/or their carers, particularly in the care of people in need of care with impaired perceptual, communication and/or cognitive abilities.
- Knowledge and understanding: They know and understand methods and strategies for conflict prevention and resolution in intra- and interprofessional collaboration.
- Use, application and generation of knowledge: They are able to transfer their in-depth knowledge and understanding of the tasks, roles and values of the nursing profession to their own nursing activities in contact with people in need of care and to recognise and acknowledge the limits of their own knowledge and skills as well as their own area of responsibility and to use these experiences for appropriate further (independent) learning activities.
- Use, application and generation of knowledge: They are able to recognise communicatively challenging situations in contact with people in need of care at an early stage and apply appropriate communication strategies in these situations.
- Communication and cooperation: You have the ability to verbalise your own positive and stressful experiences from care work or personal needs with regard to skills development in a way that is appropriate to the addressee and to exchange ideas constructively with the other person providing guidance or support.

Module examination(s):
- PF1700-L1: Core elements of professional nursing 2, oral examination, 20 minutes, 100% of the ungraded module grade
The exercises are carried out in small groups (approx. 10 students).
For students of the SGO Nursing 2020, 3 SWS seminar 1 SWS exercise and 70 integrated hours of practical work apply.
