The term entrepreneurship is used for all types of entrepreneurial activities and encompasses entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial action.
Nowadays, entrepreneurship refers not only to the founding of a company and the founder, but also to entrepreneurial thinking and action within a company. The aim is always to generate added value within the company, so entrepreneurship can be seen as a process of value generation within the company. The aim is to recognize and exploit market opportunities, question existing structures and develop new (innovative) products/services, whether as a newly founded or established company.
There is another term to distinguish entrepreneurship from intrapreneurship. This term refers to employees within established companies or public institutions (intrapreneurs) who think and act like entrepreneurs. This means that they should behave as dependent employees within a company as if they were entrepreneurs themselves.
