Frequently asked questions

No! Even if the name sounds different at first, this is a fully-fledged computer science degree (Master of Science), with entrepreneurship/economics as a minor subject.

The term entrepreneurship is used for all types of entrepreneurial activities and encompasses entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial action.

Nowadays, entrepreneurship refers not only to the founding of a company and the founder, but also to entrepreneurial thinking and action within a company. The aim is always to generate added value within the company, so entrepreneurship can be seen as a process of value generation within the company. The aim is to recognize and exploit market opportunities, question existing structures and develop new (innovative) products/services, whether as a newly founded or established company.

There is another term to distinguish entrepreneurship from intrapreneurship. This term refers to employees within established companies or public institutions (intrapreneurs) who think and act like entrepreneurs. This means that they should behave as dependent employees within a company as if they were entrepreneurs themselves.

To study the EdT degree program, you do not yet need to be aiming for a start-up. If you are interested in entrepreneurial thinking and action, you can acquire the relevant specialist knowledge and skills as part of the course.

In particular, learning how to think and act like an entrepreneur will enable you to work like an entrepreneur in your own company, even as an employee. Employees who work as if the company were their own are very valuable to a company and are therefore in high demand on the job market.

You do not need to have an idea for a start-up to study EdT. If you would like to become self-employed in the course of your future career or are simply interested in entrepreneurial thinking and acting, you can acquire the relevant specialist knowledge and skills as part of the course.

In particular, learning how to think and act like an entrepreneur enables you to work like an entrepreneur in your own company, even as an employee. This skill is increasingly in demand on the job market today.

In the EdT degree program, you will learn how to think through, evaluate and plan your (start-up) business in detail and you will be taught the necessary skills as a company founder. In addition to specialist knowledge and business management skills, which are essential for (spin-off) start-ups, you will learn how to draw up a business plan, develop innovations, successfully launch a company on the market and create value.

You can find support for setting up a company on campus in the GründerCube(www.gruendercube.de), this building is the central contact point of the University and TH Lübeck for setting up a company and entrepreneurial thinking and action.
