Would you like to study in Germany and prepare yourself in the best possible way? The Propädeutikum International accompanies you on your way - with targeted TestAS preparation, subject-specific courses and intensive German courses (B2 & C1 with TestDaF certificate).
In addition to subject-specific and language courses, we offer support with organizational and everyday challenges. In our Café Weitblick, volunteer psychology students are on hand to advise you - whether you are looking for accommodation, applying to university or dealing with financial issues.
We have been an examination center for the TestAS since 2017. TestAS is a standardized study aptitude test for prospective foreign students. A good test result can increase your chances of getting a place at university.
In particular, we offer our participants an intensive preparation course for the TestAS exam.
In addition to TestAS preparation, we offer a wide range of subjects that differ depending on the degree course you are aiming for. For example, the focus of "Medical Nutritional Sciences" is on the natural sciences, while "Robotics and Autonomous Systems" focuses on computer science. The aim is to refresh and deepen relevant basic knowledge - for a successful start to your studies.
In addition to the subject classes, we offer German B2 courses in the winter semester and C1 courses in the following summer semester.
The workload for the German course is 12 hours and ends with the TestDaF exam in the summer semester.
The TestDaF is the most important German language exam for international applicants. The certificate certifies the language level required by the universities.
Over the years, it has become clear that our participants are confronted with a wide variety of problems. To take this into account, we have developed the Café Weitblick, which is run on a voluntary basis by psychology students.
There you will find a suitable and empathetic discussion partner for virtually everything, who will try to give you options.
This covers very practical topics relating to everyday student life - from finding accommodation and applications to financial support such as BAföG.
The Propädeutikum regularly organizes activities (e.g. climbing, canoeing, picnics) with students. This is a great way to get to know lots of new people.

Student opinions
The preparatory course was not only a valuable opportunity for me to adapt my school education abroad to the German education system, but also an excellent preparation for studying at a German university. I developed important learning strategies, got to know academic terminology in German and gained my first insights into the local university system and examination formats. This foundation helped me a lot in my first year of study - it made many things much easier for me.
The preparatory course was the best introduction to my studies in Germany. Not only did I gain a lot of academic knowledge, but I also established close contact with the university and the country. I am very grateful for this opportunity. Without the preparatory course, I would certainly not have made such a good start to my medical studies, especially the first semester.
The preparatory course helped me to prepare well for my studies in terms of subject, language and organization. A valuable experience at the start of my studies." I would like to thank you and the entire team for your work.
The preparatory course is a great opportunity for anyone planning to study at the University of Lübeck. You are supported at every stage and accompanied step by step on the way to your goal. It also offers the chance to meet new people and immerse yourself in student life through joint seminars with students from the university. Many thanks to the whole team!
The preparatory course was established in 2016 as an integration program for prospective refugees. Financed by the DAAD Integra and Welcome programs as well as special funds from the state, it offers language courses (B2 and C1) as well as modules to prepare students for a degree course at the University of Lübeck.
We want to prepare our international participants intensively, purposefully and in close personal contact for their studies. The great advantage of our offer is that we work in manageable groups, respond directly to personal concerns and can react quickly to changing requirements.
The specialist teaching in the preparatory course is carried out by doctoral students and students from the university's higher semesters. Our teaching staff receive didactic training through internal further and advanced training.
It is part of our concept that students design the study preparation lessons: This is because they can not only teach prospective students about the subject, but also report on their own study experiences. They know what is important in the first year of study.
The language lessons are taught by our experienced German teachers.
