  • Bioinformatic strategies in cardiovascular research
  • Molecular changes and genetics in atherosclerosis
  • Cell-based, organ and animal models in cardiovascular medicine
  • Diagnostics, biomarkers and therapeutic approaches for cardiovascular diseases
  • Personalised medicine in cardiology

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • Upon completion of the course, students/participants will be able to:
  • Understanding the fundamentals of cardiovascular medicine: identifying, describing and placing key terms, structures and clinical presentations of cardiovascular medicine within their medical context.
  • Explain and analyse mechanisms: explain the pathophysiological and molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases and analyse the relationships between them.
  • Understand the principles of bioinformatics methods and apply them to some extent: describe basic bioinformatics techniques for analysing biological data, select appropriate methods, and explain their application in the context of cardiovascular research.
  • Evaluating concepts in personalised medicine: explain and compare approaches to personalised medicine and current therapeutic strategies in cardiovascular medicine, and assess their significance for prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
