Course of studies, specific fields and terms:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing 2020, optional subject, nursing science
Classes and lectures:
- PF4522-Ü: Teaching and learning in nursing practice (exercise, 1 SWS)
- PF4521-S: Didactic and specialised didactic basics (seminar, 1 SWS)
- PF4522-V: Teaching and learning in nursing practice (lecture, 1 SWS)
Workload:
- 75 hours private studies
- 45 hours in-classroom work
Contents of teaching:
- Fundamentals of pedagogy
- Basic didactic principles of scientific teaching
- Didactic basics of nursing care
- Problem-orientated teaching and learning (POL)
- Bedside teaching/guidance in nursing care practice and in the skills lab
- Simulations in the skills lab and examination formats e.g. OSCE (Objective structured clinical examination)
- Didactics of feedback communication with students
- Conception of a course and practical implementation as a tutor
- Competence development and measurement in a higher education context
- Co-development and integration of innovative technologies (especially augmented reality) in teaching and learning processes in nursing care
Qualification-goals/Competencies:
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: Students are familiar with the roles and tasks of practical guidance in different teaching/learning settings (clinical practice, skills lab, tutorials).
- Broadening/deepening knowledge, utilisation and transfer: Students know and understand the didactic principles of nursing and can implement these in the planning and implementation of practice-related or practice-oriented teaching (practical instruction, skills training, practical support, exercises).
- Utilisation and transfer: Students can apply basic and advanced methods of instruction depending on the teaching-learning setting.
- Utilisation and transfer: Students are familiar with tasks and methods in the systematic assessment and evaluation of learners and are able to apply these in the context of formative and summative evaluations.
- Scientific self-conception: Students can justify their pedagogical actions against a scientific background.
- Communication and cooperation: Students can give feedback, conduct conflict discussions and coach learners on the basis of communication models and situationally appropriate communication strategies.
- Academic self-image/understanding of the profession: Students understand the processes of instructing team members as an inherent professional nursing task. They take into account the legal requirements for practical vocational training in nursing (vocational and higher education).
- Scientific self-image/professional understanding: Students recognise the importance of the scientific justification of nursing education decisions and are open to scientifically based new and innovative methods and media of teaching and learning.

- Successful participation in attendance exercise as specified by the lecturer at the beginning of the semester (see Moodle course for the module)
Module examination(s):
- PF4520-L1: Presentation (B), 30 min, 100% of the module grade
The presentation (20 min + 10 min discussion) is part of the required active participation in the seminar and is therefore a prerequisite for the module assessment. The examination is deemed to have been completed if it has been graded at least as sufficient.
The exact requirements for the presentation will be announced by the lecturer responsible for the module at the beginning of the module.
In accordance with SGO 2020, this module contains 60 hours of practical work and 30 hours of independent study.
The teaching formats are changed to 1 SWS lecture, 1 SWS seminar and 2 SWS exercise.
The module comprises an ungraded presentation as the only examination with duration and scope according to PVO.
