Contents of teaching:
- Special pathology on common diseases and health disorders in neurology, psychiatry and psychotherapy and medicine of old age and ageing people
- In-depth study of disease theory (aetiology, differential diagnosis/differentiated assessment, forms of disease/disorder, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy, prognosis) for common age-associated diseases and disorders of cognition and behaviour (in particular mild cognitive impairment, dementia, delirium, depression).
- Current scientific findings on disease theory (aetiology, prevention, differential diagnosis, forms of disease/disorder, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy, prognosis) in frequently occurring diabetic metabolic conditions of various origins: diabetes mellitus type 1, diabetes mellitus type 2, gestational diabetes, metabolic syndrome
- Current scientific findings on secondary prevention and treatment of diabetic foot syndrome and other secondary complications
Qualification-goals/Competencies:
- Broadening of knowledge: Students can explain the aetiology, differential diagnosis/differentiated assessment, forms of disease/disorder, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy, prognosis of common neurological, psychiatric and age-associated diseases and health disorders and assign and differentiate between them in a meaningful way.
- Deepening knowledge: Students can describe and justify specific risks and challenges of therapy and care planning for older people due to multimorbidity, polypharmacy and/or impaired cognitive abilities on the basis of evidence-based guidelines.
- Deepening knowledge and understanding of knowledge: Students can appropriately summarise and critically reflect on current medical-scientific and nursing-scientific findings on the aetiology, differential diagnosis/differentiated assessment, forms of disease/disorder, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy, prognosis in frequently occurring age-associated neurological and psychiatric diseases and disorders (especially mild cognitive impairments, dementia, delirium, depression).
- Deepening knowledge and understanding: Students can appropriately summarise and critically reflect on current evidence-based recommendations and scientific findings on prevention, early detection, differential diagnostics/differentiated assessment, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies for common diabetic metabolic conditions (diabetes mellitus type 1, diabetes mellitus type 2 and gestational diabetes) and secondary complications (especially chronic wounds) as well as chronic wounds of other common causes (venous insufficiency, PAOD).
- Utilisation and transfer: On the basis of current medical-scientific and nursing-scientific findings, students will be able to determine the need for therapy and care for people with known diabetic metabolic conditions (diabetes mellitus type 1, diabetes mellitus type 2 and gestational diabetes), (impending) diabetic foot syndrome or other chronic wounds - with varying degrees of somatic or cognitive/psychiatric co-morbidity - and derive appropriate adjustments to the therapy and care plan and specify suitable evaluation criteria for monitoring.
- Communication and coordination, understanding of the profession: Depending on the care needs identified, students can provide therapy and care for people with known diabetic metabolic conditions (type 1 diabetes mellitus, type 2 diabetes mellitus and gestational diabetes), (impending) diabetic foot syndrome or other chronic wounds - with varying degrees of somatic or cognitive/psychiatric comorbidity - describe the roles and tasks of the professional groups involved and name the limits of their own area of responsibility in the context of the independent and autonomous performance of extended medical tasks.
