- PF2654-V: Nursing Diagnostics and Interventions in Special Surgical Care (lecture, 1 SWS)
- PF2655-V: Nursing diagnostics and interventions in perinatal and early childhood care (lecture, 1 SWS)
Workload:
- 30 hours private studies
- 45 hours in-classroom work
- 165 hours integrated internship hours
Contents of teaching:
- Nursing diagnostics (observation criteria and methods, assessment instruments, specialist terms from nursing and multi-professional classification systems, e.g. NANDA and ICF) for people in need of care of all ages with diseases and health care needs of frequently occurring clinical pictures from the medical fields of angiology and vascular surgery, urology, dermatology, thoracic surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics
- Evidence-based planning, implementation, management, coordination and evaluation of nursing measures for people with common medical conditions in the medical specialities of angiology and vascular surgery, urology, dermatology, thoracic surgery and gynaecology
- Evidence-based planning, implementation, management, coordination and evaluation of nursing measures in the care of newborns and their families
- Theoretical and empirical principles of nursing action strategies with high relevance in care practice (either due to frequently occurring indications for use or broad reception and use regardless of the indication for use) as well as action sequences and application techniques of the aforementioned action strategies: continence promotion, chronic wounds (different age groups in each case), fall prevention
- Indications for as well as procedures and possible complications of special medical diagnostic and therapeutic measures involving nursing involvement in the preparation, implementation and/or follow-up/care or independent extended nursing medical tasks, in particular tracheostomy, compression therapy, special wound care (including prescription of aids and medical devices), uro- or ileostomy, handling thoracic drains
- Concepts and principles of rehabilitation in the above-mentioned medical specialities, requirements for nursing care in the context of rehabilitation for selected clinical pictures
- Requirements for nursing care in care contexts outside of inpatient acute care, in particular in outpatient care (outpatient care service, early help and other low-threshold care services) and inpatient long-term care
Qualification-goals/Competencies:
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: Students have a broad understanding of the disease- and situation-specific care-related problems and needs of people in need of care at different ages with the above-mentioned diseases or health care needs in (highly) complex, acute and long-term care situations.
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: They know and understand specific instruments and methods for recording the disease- or situation-specific care-related problems and needs of people in need of care at different ages with the above-mentioned diseases or conditions (especially pregnancy, birth). They have an overview of the areas of application of these instruments and methods and are aware of the requirements to be taken into account in accordance with the principles of evidence-based diagnostics.
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: They know and understand the indications for as well as the courses of action and potential complications of specific nursing interventions for people in need of care of all ages with the above-mentioned illnesses or conditions (especially pregnancy, birth). They have an understanding of the type and quality of the underlying body of knowledge.
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: They know and understand the indications for and the procedures and possible complications of special medical diagnostic and therapeutic measures that involve nursing participation tasks or extended nursing medical tasks during preparation, implementation and follow-up observation and care (see course content).
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: They know and understand basic concepts and principles of rehabilitation for people of all age groups with the above-mentioned illnesses and health restrictions and recognise the special requirements for nursing care in the context of rehabilitation.
- Broadening/deepening knowledge: Students know the relevant content of evidence-based counselling and guidance for people in need of care and their caregivers and can apply this to individual needs, especially for people with chronic wounds/stoma and in breastfeeding counselling/perinatal counselling for mothers and families.
- Scientific self-image/professionalism: Students justify their own actions on the basis of scientific findings, against the background of laws and regulations as well as ethical guidelines and values. They are able to recognise differences between evidence-based knowledge and observed practices and critically reflect on influencing factors and derive possible consequences for their future role as Bachelor's-qualified nursing professionals.
- Use and transfer: Students are able to carry out evidence-based planning, organisation, design, implementation, control and evaluation of complex or highly complex care processes for people of different age groups in the above-mentioned specialist areas and the specialist areas from previous modules of evidence-based nursing practice. This includes the ability to critically examine the available information on nursing support needs and existing nursing care arrangements for the above-mentioned people in need of care with regard to their completeness, quality and appropriateness and, if necessary, to obtain further information for the precise assessment of support needs or to derive proposals for adapting care.
- Utilisation and transfer: On the basis of medical diagnoses, students can safely prepare and carry out the following activities in the area of nursing assistance or independent extended nursing care according to the standards of evidence-based medicine and nursing and observe them with regard to the intended and, if applicable, adverse effects: Changing dressings for tracheostoma, compression therapy, special wound care (including prescribing aids and medical devices) for chronic wounds, uro- or ileostomy, handling chest drains (including assessment in each case)
- Communication and cooperation: When planning nursing care for people in need of care in the above-mentioned target groups, they can take into account the perspectives and concerns of other people involved in the care (if applicable, subsequently). In particular, they are able to involve family members and/or carers appropriately in the design of the care process.
- Communication and cooperation: You will be able to recognise the special requirements of nursing care for people in need of care of different ages outside the acute care hospital and carry out the nursing tasks involved in transferring patients from one care setting to another.
- Scientific self-image/professionalism: Students responsibly organise reserved activities such as the assessment and determination of care needs and position scientific care findings in intra- and interdisciplinary teams. When carrying out collaborative activities or extended curative tasks, they observe the limits of their professional, economic, ethical and legal responsibility.
