  • Design and functional mechanisms of common medical devices for care and medical diagnostics and therapy: devices for monitoring vital signs (incl. respiration), X-ray, ultrasound, oxygen administration
  • Implementation of the care process in care practice, in particular in the support of people with care needs in the areas of mobility, cognitive and communicative abilities, behaviour and psychological problems, self-care, organisation of everyday life and social contacts as well as coping with and independently dealing with disease- or therapy-related requirements and stresses (medication, injections, provision of intravenous access, suctioning and oxygen administration as well as cold and heat applications, measurement and interpretation of body conditions, body-related aids, dressing changes and wound care), injections, intravenous access care, suction and oxygen administration, embrocation and cold and heat applications, measurement and interpretation of body conditions, body-related aids, dressing changes and wound care for primary healing wounds, one-time catheterisation and care for indwelling urinary catheters, laxative measures)

  • Conducive and obstructive framework conditions for learning at the practical learning location as part of the degree programme, strategies for problem-solving in the event of conflicts or obstructive factors in the learning environment
  • Formulate your own competence-orientated learning objectives for practice-based learning during the course of your studies
  • Methods for independent monitoring and reflection of practice-based learning

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • Knowledge enhancement: Students can explain the principles of action and functional mechanisms of medical devices frequently used in nursing and healthcare.
  • In-depth knowledge: Students can explain the requirements for patient-specific planning, preparation, implementation, follow-up and evaluation of the care process for people with moderate care support needs in the areas of mobility, cognitive and communicative abilities, behaviour and psychological problems, self-care, organisation of everyday life and social contacts as well as coping with and independently dealing with disease- or therapy-related requirements and stresses (see course content) on the basis of evidence-based knowledge and legal standards. In doing so, they take into account disease- or therapy-specific requirements.
  • Understanding of knowledge: Students can critically reflect on observed practices in the various stages of the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnoses, nursing goals, planning, implementation and follow-up of nursing interventions, evaluation) against the background of acquired knowledge of evidence-based nursing. In doing so, they take into account patient-specific factors (needs, wishes, habits), clinical experiences of colleagues and the general conditions.
  • Broadening/deepening/understanding knowledge: Students can explain the aims and domains of interprofessional collaboration and the term ‘teamwork’ on the basis of established models and relate this content to the structures and processes of inter- and intraprofessional collaboration in various nursing care settings. In doing so, they can identify situations and conditional factors of successful and less successful collaboration/teamwork and analyse them with regard to possible solutions.
  • Utilisation and transfer; communication and cooperation: Students can plan, implement and evaluate individually appropriate, evidence-based nursing care for people with moderately complex support needs in the above-mentioned areas of life (see course content), based on a comprehensive nursing assessment and derivation/prioritisation of suitable nursing diagnoses.
  • Utilisation and transfer; communication and cooperation: Students can document the results of their assessments and decisions in the context of implementing the care process in an appropriate manner and inform colleagues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Communication and cooperation: Students can differentiate between the responsibilities and tasks of the nursing profession and the responsibilities and tasks of other members of the nursing and multi-professional care team and identify the need for the involvement of other members of the nursing team and other professional groups as appropriate to the situation. They make contact with the relevant stakeholders on their own initiative.
  • Communication and cooperation: Students can organise intra- and interprofessional handover situations in a structured manner.
  • Scientific self-conception/professionalism: Students are able to justify their own decisions in the implementation of the nursing process in a professional manner using the principles of evidence-based nursing. From this, they can derive requirements for their own competence development for working as a Bachelor's-qualified nursing specialist.
  • Scientific self-conception/professionalism: Students can recognise and respect the limits of their decision-making and action responsibility in healthcare practice.
  • Academic self-image/professionalism: Students can critically reflect on their own current competences in relation to the learning objectives of this module and derive strategies for the further development of their own competences.
