Applied Nursing Science (part-time)

Advanced skills for nursing practice

The increasing number of people with complex care needs due to chronic and multiple illnesses increases the need for highly qualified nursing professionals with extended skills.

The Applied Nursing Science course at the University of Lübeck meets this need by providing advanced qualifications at the interface between science and practice. By focusing on research methods and scientifically sound nursing practice, it provides the skills needed to provide evidence-based care to people with complex care needs.
The degree program prepares you for your extended roles in practice development, quality assurance or care coordination.

With this course, you can obtain a Bachelor of Science degree as well as further qualifications depending on your individual focus.

These include the qualification to work as a practice supervisor or for nursing decision support and guidance ("Decision Coaching").

We would particularly like to highlight the advancement scholarship from the Stiftung Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung. Regardless of age, it is aimed at skilled workers who have at least two years of professional experience and can provide evidence of special professional achievements (e.g. the grade of the final vocational examination). Full-time and part-time students are eligible. It is possible to apply before the start of studies and up to the 2nd semester. Dr. Patrick Ristau will be happy to answer any questions about the advancement scholarship.

As a rule, study days take place during the lecture period on three consecutive working days per week. Deviating from this, practical phases are planned in which the students should complete internships (approx. 400 hours in total) in cooperating institutions.

20 study places are allocated each winter semester.
