Under special conditions, people who do not have a school-leaving certificate (Abitur) can also enrol at the University of Lübeck.
In accordance with the university admission regulations for master craftsmen and women dated June 20, 2008, applicants are enrolled if they have passed a master craftsman's examination.
Alternatively, other completed previous education can be recognized if it is considered equivalent for certain courses of study. Equivalence is assessed on an individual basis.
Proof is provided by a completed advanced vocational training course, the completion of which
- is based on an examination under public law on the basis of Sections 53 and 54 BBiG or Sections 42 or 42a HwO, on equivalent federal and state regulations or on the basis of state-approved examination regulations at recognized supplementary schools and
- is achieved with a further training measure of at least 400 teaching hours.
The following admission requirements apply:
- Completion of at least two years of vocational training recognized under federal or state law in a field related to the intended course of study and
- at least three years of professional experience in a field related to the course of study for at least half of the regular working hours, which must be proven by a certificate of employment.
The following documents must be enclosed with the application form:
- Curriculum vitae,
- Certified copies of school and vocational training certificates,
- A certified copy of the training certificate with at least satisfactory results for the proven vocational training,
- Proof of at least three years of professional experience in a field related to the intended degree program,
- a declaration as to whether the applicant has previously applied for admission to a university aptitude test at this or another university and, if so, for which degree program,
- a certificate confirming that the applicant has received qualified academic advising for the degree program in question.
