Classes and lectures:

  • Information, education and counselling in nursing care (lecture, 2 SWS)
  • Evidence-based patient information and shared decision making (practical course, 2 SWS)

Workload:

  • 70 hours integrated internship hours
  • 60 hours in-classroom work
  • 20 hours private studies and exercises

Contents of teaching:

  • Repetition and immersion: theoretical fundamentals, techniques, and principles of verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Introduction to managing client-centric, systemic, familial, and/or group-based meetings and consultations
  • Theoretical fundamentals of shared decision-making and evidence-based patient information
  • Specific areas of applications of shared decision-making and evidence-based patient information
  • Deepening of collegial counselling

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • Knowledge and understanding: Students have a sound knowledge of verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction.
  • Knowledge and understanding: You have a sound knowledge and understanding of the appropriate use of communication techniques and methods in nursing care.
  • Knowledge and understanding: You will be familiar with the theoretical foundations and principles of shared decision making and evidence-based patient information.
  • Knowledge and understanding: You have an insight into didactic theories and methods of peer counselling and guidance.
  • Use, application and generation of knowledge: You can conduct, lead and end targeted and resource-orientated conversations and relationships with people in need of care and their relatives.
  • Use, application and generation of knowledge: They are able to present information in a manner appropriate to the target group and to advise and inform people in need of care or their relatives in terms of shared decision making and evidence-based patient information.
  • Use, application and generation of knowledge: You can initiate and conduct discussions with and between other players in the health/care sector.
  • Communication and co-operation: You can work together with different professional groups/target groups and develop multidisciplinary and interprofessional solutions.
  • Use, application and generation of knowledge: You will develop a scientifically sound understanding of different information, guidance and successful counselling situations. You will be able to identify individual information, guidance and counselling needs (e.g. according to target group, counselling occasion or background of the interlocutor).
  • Use, application and generation of knowledge: They are able to identify and analyse possible facilitating factors and barriers for information, guidance and successful counselling situations.
  • Use, application and generation of knowledge: You can professionally reflect, formulate and argue your own points of view (e.g. when applying the method of peer counselling) and express them precisely in oral and written form.

- PF3050-L1: Information, guidance and counselling in nursing, written examination, 120 min, 100% of the module grade, written part of the state examination in accordance with Section 35 (2) sentence 1 of the Nursing Professions Training and Examination Ordinance (PflAPrV), primary examination areas 3, 4 and 7

For nursing students enrolled until 2024:
- PF3050-L1: Information, guidance and counselling in nursing, oral examination, 20 min, 100% of the module grade

The Bachelor of Applied Nursing Science (part-time) 2022 has 2V+1Ü with a workload of 45h attendance and 105h self-study.
