Contents of teaching:
- This course provides an introduction to the legal framework governing the use of AI models and AI systems. It examines the entire life cycle of AI models and AI systems, from design and training to market launch and decommissioning.
- This course provides an overview of the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, including: - The origins of artificial intelligence and its basic functioning - The fundamentals of training artificial intelligence - The limitations and risks of artificial intelligence
- In particular, the following areas of law and legal acts are examined: - AI Regulation / AI Act: - Definition of AI models and AI systems - Fundamentals of the risk-based approach under the AI Regulation - Prohibited practices in the field of AI - Definition of high-risk AI systems - Technical and organizational requirements for high-risk AI systems, e.g., requirements for data quality and data governance, human oversight of AI systems, robustness, and cybersecurity of AI systems - Transparency obligations for AI systems - Incident reporting requirements - Principles governing the imposition of sanctions for violations
- An Overview and Excerpts from International Laws on the Use of Artificial Intelligence.
- Data Access and Use Regulation (Data Act) and Data Governance Regulation (Data Governance Act): The right to access and securely use data, and a framework for data exchange to support the development of innovative and trustworthy AI systems.
- General Data Protection Regulation: Fundamentals and Requirements for the Processing of Personal Data in AI Systems.
- Copyright: Basic Principles of Copyright Law Regarding Input, Output, and Training Data.
- Overview and excerpts of supplementary/sector-specific regulations in the context of artificial intelligence applications. IT Law: Fundamentals of contract law for evaluating software, IT, and cloud computing contracts.
- An overview and excerpts of supplementary/sector-specific regulations in the context of the application of artificial intelligence.
Qualification-goals/Competencies:
- Students are familiar with the legal framework governing the design, training, operation, and use of AI models and AI systems, which is relevant to individuals responsible for a data-processing system.
- Students are able to apply the legal framework governing the development, implementation, and operation of data-processing systems that incorporate AI components.
