Course of studies, specific fields and terms:

Classes and lectures:

  • PY4104-S: Specialization in psychological diagnostics and assessment (seminar, 2 SWS)
  • PY4104-V: Specialization in psychological diagnostics and assessment (lecture, 2 SWS)

Workload:

Contents of teaching:

  • Diagnostic procedures and methods for behavioral observation including procedures and Methods for patient observation
  • Indications and diagnostic processes in people of all ages and patient groups
  • Features of classification systems including their sources of error
  • In Depth psychometric basics of measuring as a prerequisite for test theories and test constructions
  • Psychological and psychopathological findings under consideration of differential diagnostic Findings
  • Language and interaction in the diagnostic process as well as methods of conversation

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • Students are able to apply psychodiagnostic methods of personality, performance and neuropsychological Diagnostics for people of all ages and patient groups according to scientific and methodological principles, in particular those of objectivity, reliability and validity.
  • You can use psychodiagnostic methods of personality, performance and neuropsychological diagnostics situation- and patient-appropriate use and evaluate the results.
  • They will acquire the ability to develop psychological tests in accordance with the principles of test theories and test construction.
  • Students are able to test and evaluate the quality of diagnostic survey methods based on scientific criteria.
  • They can collect clinical and anamnestically relevant findings.
  • Students acquire the ability to create psychological findings taking into account the criteria of categorical diagnostics of mental disorders as well as the characteristics of classification systems, using scientifically evaluated, standardized and structured patient surveys for individual cases.
  • They can perform dimensional diagnostics using psychometric methods to assess the and the severity of symptoms as well as the course of therapy and react appropriately to changes in diagnostic findings, taking into account the methodological requirements.
