Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • The students acquire basic knowledge of selected topics in human biology.
  • They understand basic aspects of cellular energy metabolism and underlying cellular structures and can apply this knowledge to the analysis of different metabolic situations.
  • They elaborate the subject areas of genetics and epigenetics to differentiate between them and recognise, compare and understand their diverse functions.
  • They have basic knowledge of the function and anatomy of the nervous system, memory and senses. They understand and reflect the existing connections and can apply these skills.
  • They know the mechanisms of evolution and understand the origin of species on this basis. They are able to apply their knowledge to aspects of species protection.
