Classes and lectures:
- practise in basics in statistics I (seminar, 2 SWS)
- lecture in basics in statistics I (lecture, 2 SWS)
Workload:
- 120 hours private studies and exercises
- 60 hours in-classroom work
Contents of teaching:
- Descriptive statistics
- Graphical data representation and analysis
- Effect sizes
- Introduction to inference statistics
- Population vs sample
- Testing of relationships hypotheses (correlation methods)
- Parametrical testing of difference hypotheses (t-test)
Qualification-goals/Competencies:
- Students possess a fundamental understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics as well as probability theory, which are of central importance for the collection and evaluation of psychological data, and are able to critically assess these concepts.
- You can apply your newly acquired knowledge to solve statistical problems.
- You have initial experience in using and interpreting statistical software (e.g., SPSS, JASP, R).
- You have the ability to interpret statistical results appropriately and independently.
