Classes and lectures:

• PY2702-V: Clinical Psychology / Disturbance Theory Inc. Preventive and Rehabilitative Concepts of Psychotherapeutic Action (lecture, 4 SWS)
• PY2702-S: Clinical Psychology/Disorder Theory (seminar-style lectures with exercises, 2 SWS)

Workload:

Contents of teaching:

• General and special pathology of mental and psychologically related illnesses in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, including old age
• Epidemiology and comorbidity
• Clinical-psychological diagnostics and classification
• Concepts on the development, maintenance and course of mental and psychologically related disorders in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, including old age, including different disorder models for the scientifically recognized psychotherapeutic procedures and the scientifically recognized psychotherapeutic methods
• Characteristics, objectives, tasks, indications and methods of prevention and rehabilitation, taking into account the needs of different age groups
• Prevention programs and rehabilitation approaches taking into account the needs of different age groups

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

• Students possess factual knowledge of the technical terminology of the nosology of mental disorders and related psychological disorder models, psychotherapeutic procedures, methods, and techniques.
• Students possess conceptual knowledge of the application of nosology to clinical situations.
• Students possess factual knowledge of the supply structures of the German healthcare system.
• Students possess factual knowledge of the supply structures of the German healthcare system.
• Students possess factual knowledge about the implementation of prevention and health promotion.
• You are able to evaluate intervention and prevention programs according to specified criteria and reflect on them critically.
• You have acquired communication skills on nosological topics through role-playing, group work, and initial accompanied patient contacts.
• Students are equipped with a fundamental knowledge of the manifestations, classification, and characteristic features of mental disorders, their development and progression, as well as the psychological aspects of physical illnesses, and are able to apply this knowledge appropriately.
