Classes and lectures:

  • Transculturality in Psychotherapeutic and Psychiatric Settings (seminar, 2 SWS)

Workload:

Contents of teaching:

  • History, theory and ethics of transcultural approaches within psychotherapy and psychiatry
  • Specific practices and particularities in transcultural treatment settings (e.g. with regard to diagnostics, therapy planning, assessment, working with language mediators*)
  • Sociopolitical, Cultural and Ethical Implications

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • The students are familiar with central concepts, theories and practices from the fields of transcultural psychotherapy and psychiatry.
  • Students will be able to present the central lines of development of transcultural practices in the field of psychotherapy and psychiatry.
  • They can present scientific literature from the above-mentioned field and from related disciplines and discuss its contents critically.
  • You will gain insight into a growing field of application of psychosocial care, including its inherent challenges against the background of cultural, ethical and socio-political factors.
