Contents of teaching:

  • We will read one (max. two) texts for each class. We will analyze and discuss the texts together. Contents are:
  • Studies on gender and sexuality in Psychology and Neuro Science
  • Theories of Gender, Gender Studies
  • Historical perspectives on gender, sexuality and feminism
  • Science studies
  • Gender-focused and feminist approaches in psychology and psychotherapy

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • Students will learn basic terms, theories and methods of psychological research on gender, of gender studies and of science studies
  • They will be able to understand central themes and controversies in the historical formation of sex and gender
  • They will be able to grapple with political and cultural implications of psychological knowledge.
  • They can reflect these implications in regard to gender.
  • They will be competent to lead interdisciplinary discussions (psychology, psychotherapy, philosophy, sociology, history)
  • They will gain some knowledge on specific methods of psychotherapy
