Individual deepening

From the first semester onwards, students on the Bachelor's degree course in Computer Science have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of specialization modules. Around a quarter of the entire course consists of electives, in addition to the project, seminar and Bachelor's thesis.

Students are thus challenged early on in their studies and every semester to find their bearings and reflect on their interests, inclinations and abilities. They can try out many things and develop an individual profile.

As an alternative to this individual specialization, students can pursue one of the three canonical specializations in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology, Web and Data Science or Software Systems Engineering.

The elective modules include courses from the following subject areas:

  • Core area of computer science
  • IT security
  • Media informatics
  • Robotics
  • Medical informatics
  • Mathematics
  • Engineering
  • Natural Sciences
  • Interdisciplinary area
