  • Musculoskeletal Examination and Treatment Techniques (seminar, 1.2 SWS)

  • Selected examination and treatment techniques - Lumbar spine - Sacroiliac joint - Thoracic spine - Cervico-thoracic junction/thoracic spine - Shoulder joint/girdle - Hip

Qualification-goals/Competencies:

  • The students know the basics of manual therapy/manual medicine.
  • They know manual techniques for use in the assessment of findings and treatment.
  • Students will be able to apply techniques from manual therapy/medicine for the examination and treatment of patients with complaints in the area of the lower extremity, the upper extremity as well as the spine.
  • They can critically reflect external evidence on manual therapy/medicine.
  • They transfer knowledge from the fields of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and evidence-based medicine to work on individual case studies.
  • They master the process of clinical decision-making against the background of concrete case studies.
  • They combine hands-on techniques and exercises in a targeted manner in treatment planning and implementation, taking into account the current evidence base.

  • continuous, successful participation in course, >80%

Programme of the module:
The course comprises four days spread over two semesters. All dates must be completed in order to successfully complete the module. If there are free places, lateral entry is also possible during the course.

Entry requirement for the module:
- This interprofessional module is aimed in particular at medical students in the clinical section and physiotherapy students from the 3rd semester onwards.

Criteria for the award of a certificate (ungraded):
- Poster development on the clinical decision-making process for a case study with complaints in the musculoskeletal system. The poster must be assessed as passed.
- Attendance (>80%) and active participation, successful examination
