Every year, around 30 midwifery students successfully complete their studies at the University of Lübeck. In order to celebrate the start of their professional life or further academic career and to review four years of study, we say goodbye to each course at the end of the 8th semester with a graduation ceremony.
The courses in 2017, 2018 and 2019 - when midwifery science was still a model degree programme in Lübeck - naturally also received a proper ceremony, even if this was after the state examination at the end of the 6th semester.
Course 2021
Closing ceremony on 30/09/2025
The 2021 course was released into professional life with a festive ceremony on 30 September 2025. In addition to musical accompaniment, speeches by Prof. Dr Thomas Münte (Vice President Teaching at UzL), Prof. Dr Ruth Martis (Head of degree programme until February 2025) and Prof. Dr Marina Weckend (Head of degree programme since March 2025) and a slide show with photos of the four years of study made the graduation ceremony in Z1/2 a unique event.

Graduation ceremony on 27/09/2024
On 27 September 2024, students celebrated the completion of their state examination and academic Bachelor's degree with a big celebration in Z1/2. With flowers and speeches by Prof Dr Christiane Schwarz and Prof Dr Ruth Martis, the students looked back on the past four years together.

On Wednesday 24 January 2024, nine graduates of the Midwifery Science degree programme received their degree certificates - presented by Prof. Schwarz and Prof. Martis - at the Bachelor's graduation ceremony in the university's Audimax.

Bachelor graduation ceremony 2023

On Friday, 27 January 2023, the Bachelor's graduates of 2022 were bid farewell at the academic graduation ceremony. In 2022, eight students graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Midwifery Science. These are the first graduates since the programme was founded at the University of Lübeck. Two graduates were able to receive their certificates from Professor Schwarz in person.

On Friday 30 September 2022, the next students on the dual Bachelor's degree course in Midwifery Science were awarded their licence to use the professional title of midwife. Many of them are now set to complete their Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Science in two semesters. We congratulate the graduates and wish them every success and enjoyment as midwives!

Graduation ceremony on 01.10.2021
The second cohort has also reached an important milestone: 18 graduates of the dual Bachelor's degree programme in Midwifery Science received their licence to use the professional title of midwife on 1 October 2021. Now there are another 2 semesters to go to obtain the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Science.

Graduation ceremony on 02.10.2020
The joy was great! On Friday 2 October 2020, 17 students on the dual Bachelor's degree course in Midwifery Science were awarded the licence to use the professional title of midwife. They have thus successfully completed the first milestone of the programme, the state examination. Now the 7th and 8th semesters follow to obtain the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Science.
We wish the graduates much success and pleasure as midwives and continued success in their studies!
