Application procedure for midwifery science

The application process for the dual Bachelor's degree program in Midwifery Science (B.Sc.) takes place directly via the responsible practice institutions (vPE), not via the University of Lübeck.

You first apply to one or more vPEs, which take on the practical part of the course.

After a successful application and the conclusion of a study contract with a vPE, your documents will be forwarded to the university.

An additional application to the university is not necessary. All important information on admission requirements, deadlines and contact persons can be found on this page.

Application procedure

Submit an application to one or more vPE

  • Choose a responsible practice institution where you would like to complete the practical part of your studies.
  • The list of vPEs can be found further down on this page.

Invitation to an interview

  • The vPE will check your documents and may invite you to an interview.

Forwarding to the university

  • If you are accepted by the vPE, your documents will automatically be forwarded to the University of Lübeck.

Enrollment & contract with the vPE

  • After successful enrollment, you will sign a contract with the vPE for the practical part of your studies.

Note: An additional application to the University of Lübeck is not required. If you have any questions about your application, please contact the respective practice institution. The University of Lübeck cannot provide any information about the status of your application.

Admission requirements

  • An internship of at least four weeks in a relevant field of activity of a midwife (e.g. delivery room, maternity ward, freelance midwife) in accordance with the study program regulations (SGO).
  • University entrance qualification (alternative admission routes may be possible)
  • Proof of language proficiency at level C1
  • A valid study contract with a responsible practice institution (vPE)

Notes on the internship

  • The internship can be completed in one go or in several stages ( 4 × 38.5 hours in total).
  • The internship does not have to be fully completed at the time of application, but proof of the upcoming internship must be submitted.
  • The complete confirmation of participation in the internship must be submitted by the time of enrollment at the latest.

Responsible practice facilities

The higher education part of the course with the theoretical lectures takes place at the University of Lübeck.

The practical part is completed in one of the thirteen responsible practice facilities in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as at cooperating freelance midwives or midwife-led facilities (HgE).

The tasks of the responsible practice institutions lie in the conclusion of a contract for the practical part of the study program for obtaining the "Midwife B.Sc." degree, including the provision of remuneration.

The responsible practice institutions cooperate with the University of Lübeck, whereby the agreement contains regulations on the allocation of study places, the relationship between theory and practice and the obligations of the contractual partners.
